What information is included in the chart?

The chart includes the following information:

  • Y Axis: Pupil diameter in millimetres

  • X Axis: Time in seconds

  • Left pupil and right pupil on seperate lines

  • 2 second line refers to the flash light turning on

  • 7 second line refers to the flash light turning off

The chart can be pinched vertically to zoom into the Y Axis. Similarly, pinching horizontally will zoom the X axis.

What does this information mean?

There are three main points of interest on the chart:

  1. If conducting the test in the same environment as a baseline test, differences in pupil size during the first 2 seconds of the exam, compared to baseline.

  2. The reaction time for the beginning of pupil constriction and the velocity of pupil constriction from maximum diameter to minimum diameter, during seconds 2-7 of the exam.

  3. The recovery time of the pupil back to resting diameter, from minimum diameter to maximum diameter, during seconds 7-17 of the exam.

Note: Blinking during the exam will result in sharp dips on the chart that may interfere with these observations.
